Ms. Firestone was involved in the healthcare Industry for more than 35 years, gaining recognition for her expertise in the areas of Federal contracting, employee benefits, managed healthcare delivery systems, medical case management, disability management, population health and strategic planning. She was actively involved in the evolution of managed care, supporting the first Medicare and Medicaid HMOs. In addition, She was instrumental in the evolution of workers’ compensation provider networks, case management and disability management programs, most recently focused on technology enabled products for the Federal Government, and integrated absence management and value-based care.
Ms. Firestone started her career in hospital administration at a large University based hospital followed by more than six years as a managed care and benefits consultant. Prior to founding Managed Care Advisors in 1997, Ms. Firestone served as Vice President and Principal with a specialty healthcare consulting company. Ms. Firestone is Past Chair of the Board of Directors of Woman Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), supporting education and advocacy for woman owned and small businesses. In this capacity Ms. Firestone provided testimony to Congress on multiple occasions. In addition, Ms. Firestone spent many years on the Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Firestone received her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and master’s degree in healthcare administration from the George Washington University.
Currently retired, Ms. Firestone is an investor and advisor to an innovative start-up technology and provider network company in the Oncology and Rare Disease space.
